Explaining the science of baking one sweet recipe at a time

If you love baking and want to learn how to make perfect cookies, brownies, cakes, and more, then you need to check out Handle the Heat. Handle the Heat is a food blog and YouTube channel created by Tessa Arias, a chef and cookbook author with a passion for sweet treats. Tessa’s recipes are based on science, testing, and experimentation, so you can trust that they will work every time. She also shares her findings so you no longer have to wonder what differs a cupcake baked with oil instead of butter, or how much difference it really makes to have the cookie dough properly chilled in the fridge before baking (spoiler alert, it makes a difference!).

Tessa started Handle the Heat in 2009, when she was a college student studying journalism. She soon realized that her true calling was in the kitchen, and decided to pursue a career in culinary arts. She graduated from the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and published her first cookbook, Cookies & Cream, in 2013. Since then, she has written two more books, The Ultimate Cookie Handbook and Peanut Butter Comfort, and launched her online baking course, The Magic of Baking.

Handle the Heat is more than just a food blog – it’s a community of baking enthusiasts who love to share their creations, questions, and feedback. For example you can sign up for the baking challenge, which is a monthly event hosted by Handle the Heat, where you can bake a featured recipe, share a photo of your creation, and enter to win prizes. It’s a fun way to improve your baking skills, try new recipes, and join a community of fellow bakers. You can also join her newsletter, where you’ll get access to exclusive recipes, ebooks, and discounts.

Some of the most popular content on Handle the Heat are also some of the most popular and classic baked goods on this earth, such as her Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies which are perfectly thick and chewy. And while we’re on the subject of chocolate, her Best Ever Chewy Brownies are exactly everything a brownie should be: rich, fudgy and with a crackly top and gooey center.

If you’re looking for a reliable source of delicious baking recipes, look no further than Handle the Heat. Tessa will teach you how to handle the heat in the kitchen, and have fun along the way. Happy Baking!
