Fermentation, experimentation and tons of great dishes

Brad Leone, the Dr Frankenstein of cooking, has carved a niche for himself in the food world. With a dash of humor, a sprinkle of curiosity, and a generous dollop of passion, Brad has become a household name among food enthusiasts. He gained our love with his series “It’s alive”, where anything that possibly could be fermented was fermented (or was scrapped in the process).

Brad’s journey began at the culinary media platform Bon Appétit, where he danced through the hallowed halls of the test kitchen. His infectious energy and genuine love for food made him an instant favorite. Whether he was fermenting hot sauce or coaxing life out of sourdough starters, Brad’s mantra was simple: “It’s alive!” And indeed, his creations pulsated with vibrancy.

But Brad Leone wasn’t content with the confines of stainless steel countertops. He yearned for adventure, and adventure he found. Armed with a camera and a heart full of wanderlust, he embarked on culinary escapades that took him from the woods to the ocean. His show, “It’s Alive: Goin’ Places,” became a passport to flavors beyond borders.

Recently, Brad unveiled two new shows on his YouTube channel where he posts new videos every week. “Local Legends” and “Makin’ It”. In “Local Legends,” he takes you straight to where the magic happens, those hole-in-the-wall eateries or culinary staples. Check out when he learns to pour the perfect Guinness pint in the Guinness Factory in Dublin. In “Makin’ It,” he dives into the heart of craftsmanship, serving up mouthwatering foods. It’s a feast for the senses, served with a side of Brad’s trademark wit. Learn how to properly cook pork in “Cast iron pork steak cookin’ | Makin’ It! Episode 5“. Brad Leone will show you how and why you should give a quality pork steak the same royal treatment you’d give a filet mignon. Thank us (him) later.

Brad, with his rugged charm and disheveled hair, certainly fits the bill for a sourdough-making hipster. But don’t let appearances fool you. Beneath that flannel-clad exterior lies a man who knows his way around a kitchen. Brad is an anti-pretentious, the anti-formulaic breath of fresh air in a world of curated perfection.

So, why should you care about Brad Leone? Because you’ll have fun and learn stuff, simple as that! He encourages experimenting and exploring your way around the kitchen and is also knowledgeable enough to provide you with tools to make it a success.
