When you crave ASMR and mukbang mixed with anime riffs and great food

Bayashi is a Japanese chef, influencer, and TikTok star known for creating cooking and ASMR content. He is definitely one of the great dragons from Asia. Since he launched his account in 2020, he has amassed more than 53 million followers on TikTok and over 20 million subscribers to his YouTube channel.  He frequently offers his own original recipes with a wide variety of dishes. TikTok featured him on their 2022 Discover List in the foodie category. The same year he was one of the 5 fastest growing creators on the social media platform.

Bayashi’s cooking videos are a delightful blend of creativity, humor, and mouthwatering dishes. Also, they often have elements of mukbang and/or ASMR, which is either extremely satisfying or disgusting depending on what type or person you are or what mood you’re in. But when you’re up for it, put in your in-ears and enjoy. Bayashi masterfully combines ASMR with tantalizing filming. His videos feature close-up shots of sizzling pans, bubbling sauces, and the satisfying crunch of perfectly fried foods. And as a soothing balm through out the video, Bayashi’s calming voice guides us through each step, creating a multisensory experience that leaves viewers hungry for more.

On TikTok his by far most popular video is an Asian version of beef tartare, of course with a huge piece of wagyu beef. With it’s over 200 million views it’s in a class of its own. Another video that sparked interest was a collaboration with another famous food creator and influencer, Notorious Foodie. Together they created an equally parts monstrous as luxuriously decadent tuna tartare. The huge tartare was of course decorated with uni and caviar, favourite ingredients with both of the influencers.

So, whether you are looking for inspiration for your next decadent dish or if you simply want sensory delight, we strongly recommend you check out Bayashi on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube. If you want a content crash course and have an hour to spare, why don’t you start with checking out his videos from 2023, summarized in the video to the right?
