Where Asian flavours meets Italy and Australia

Marion Grasby, the culinary enchantress behind Marion’s Kitchen, weaves magic in her kitchen. Born in Darwin, Australia, Marion’s love for food bloomed early. Her heritage is Thai on her mother’s side and Australian on her father’s side. But it was her mother, a professionally trained Thai chef, who truly ignited Marion’s natural love for food.

After graduating from high school, Marion studied law and journalism at the Queensland University of Technology. She worked as a journalist with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Adelaide, South Australia, filing reports for radio and online services. But her heart yearned or something other than journalism, a deeper understanding of food and its cultural significance.

In 2008, Marion left her current career and returned to university to study for a Master of Arts in Gastronomy at the University of Adelaide. Little did she know that this leap would lead her to culinary stardom.

In 2010, Marion took a break from her gastronomy studies to compete in the second season of MasterChef Australia. Her highlights included winning a celebrity chef challenge against Frank Camorra and impressing Heston Blumenthal during a UK MasterChef challenge. Although she didn’t win the series, Marion’s journey was just beginning.

After MasterChef, Marion founded Marion’s Kitchen, a food company that creates a range of meal kits, stir-fry sauces, marinades, and salad dressings. Her mission? To make cooking simple, beautiful, and accessible to everyone. Marion’s Kitchen products, like Pad Thai and San Choy Bow, bring the flavors of Asia to home kitchens worldwide.

But enough about the background, what about her creations on social media? Marion’s YouTube channel, Marion’s Kitchen, has 1,9 million subscribers. Her focus is Asian dishes, and she won’t run out of inspiration since she now resides in Bangkok. On her YouTube channel you can pick and choose among a number of mouthwatering Asian dishes. Learn how to make the perfect succulent pork belly with crackling skin, and pair them with her video on how to make the fluffiest bao buns.

One segment that is quite popular is her “6 [Chinese/Thai] dinners you can make at home”. Because how many times haven’t you longed for that perfectly sweet and salty and umami flavoured stir fry, but it’s just not the same when you try to make it at home? Marion’s Kitchen teaches you the secrets, whether it’s an extra dash of MSG or a special cooking technique.

While Marion’s content is primarily Asian dishes, you can expect some Asian-Italian fusion such as Creamy Gochujang Chicken pasta. And her Aussie descent also get some spotlight from time to time.

So join Marion’s global community, go raid your closest Asian super market, and start cooking!
